Methods
I utilize an approach by Dr. Carl Rogers called Person-Centered Therapy (PCT) where I view myself as the passenger in your car, and you, the driver. We are on the journey together. You get to drive, and I get to hold the map and offer suggestions on routes to take to help you find where it is you’re wanting to go. While I use this theory as my main basis for understanding a client, I also use other methods sprinkled in throughout the session as well, depending on what the client may need at the time. I work from a trauma-informed perspective and some approaches that I may also eclectically utilize in conjunction with PCT are things like Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Existential Therapy. For parenting support, I like to utilize a program called Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) to help families in connecting with one another, and help parents find their own preferred method of parenting by, what I like to refer to as, “adding tools to your parenting tool belt”. If you are located in or near Temple, Killeen, Waco, McKinney, Stephenville, Wichita Falls, or Georgetown, and are looking for parenting support, a referral will be provided to you for potentially free services funded by the State of Texas. If you have any questions about these methods and what that may look like, please feel free to contact us today and we can determine together whether or not BACS is a good fit for you.
